T. JEFFERSON PARKER'S FALLEN

Another of the lost Crime Time reviews has resurfaced, T. Jefferson Parker's The Fallen. You can find it here. Parker manages to do something different with each book, while continuing to draw a vivid and dark portrait of his Orange County settings, as if this were the modern version of LA in the Forties.

Reading it now. Good book. Can't say, though, that I'm very taken with the synaesthesia. (Doesn't that term imply sense transference? Not quite what's going on here.) Still the book moves well and the protagonist is attractive.

I was initially put off by the concept as well (high concept appeals to me less than other things) but one reason I liked the book so much was that he both used the concept and got past it...hope you felt the same by the end...
